Multi Timeframe Moving Averages

Bitcoin / United States DollarCoinbase

Описание

This indicator allows you to view a moving average (EMA or SMA) of your choosing on other time frames than what you are currently on.

The reason I wanted to develop this was for use as a filter. Let's say you wanted to make sure the daily time frame was trading above a certain moving average so you could be sure you were playing with the trend. But you wanted to make your entries and exits on a smaller time frame. This Multi-Timeframe Moving Average indicator can then be used to keep an eye on that daily moving average while looking at the shorter term time frames on the same chart.

Simplified the code a bit and made it so that you can pick any time frame now instead of the few I had originally pre-selected as options.

I accidentally left a non-related indicator in the last update, this removes it.

Nice job, very useful. May you add something extra in Style? An option to on/off "Plots Background" between moving averages. Thanks mate.

@claudioivm, This indicator only plots one moving average.

How to change and read the indicator?

For some reason I can't get this to work on the BLX chart on the daily where I want to see the 21 weekly EMA. It gives a study error and/or out of resolution. Any idea how to fix?
millerrh
@The_Chart_Master, for BLX, I am assuming you mean the Bitcoin Liquid Index on the NASDAQ? I just tried it and was able to get it to work. Sorry, hard to troubleshoot when I'm not seeing the same thing.
The_Chart_Master
@millerrh, BLX - BraveNewCoin Liquid Index for Bitcoin , which is listed under the BNC exchange.

@The_Chart_Master, OK I'm seeing the same thing. I think the reason might be because that specific ticker has a min resolution of Daily timeframe. This moving average script is also calculating the 4-hr time frame which doesn't exist on this ticker. You could potentially remove that part of the script and it could work for this one.

@millerrh, thanks! Removing the 4h solved the issue for me. Great work!
