NVIDIA Partners with OpenAI in $100B AI Infrastructure Deal

Чтение займёт 2 минуты

Shares of NVIDIA surged 4.5% to an intraday record of $184.55 on Monday, following NVIDIA and OpenAI announcement of a landmark strategic partnership to deploy at least 10 gigawatts of NVIDIA systems, powering OpenAI’s next-generation AI infrastructure for training and running advanced models on the path to deploying superintelligence. To support this buildout, including data centre and power capacity, NVIDIA plans to invest up to $100 billion progressively as the systems come online. The first phase is expected in the second half of 2026, using NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform. 1

Is Nvidia fuelling AI growth or propping up demand for its own chips

NVIDIA has been working closely with OpenAI since their early days, and NVIDIA’s platform has powered AI systems used by hundreds of millions of people every day.

Nvidia’s investment in OpenAI is going to support a large-scale expansion of data centres powered by its chips. The move, aimed at strengthening the infrastructure behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT highlights Nvidia’s efforts to sustain demand for its products, raising questions about whether the company is investing aggressively to keep the market reliant on its technology.

Building the World’s Most Advanced AI Infrastructure

In 2024 Nvidia participated in many investment deals, but the venture with OpenAI is on a much larger scale.

The collaboration complements OpenAI and NVIDIA’s ongoing work with a broad network of global partners, including Microsoft, Oracle, and SoftBank, focused on constructing the world’s most advanced AI infrastructure.

OpenAI has expanded to over 700 million weekly active users on ChatGPT and gained strong adoption across enterprises, small businesses, and developers. This strategic partnership will support OpenAI’s mission to build artificial general intelligence (AGI) ensuring robust, scalable AI infrastructure.

The roadmap involves close co-optimization of NVIDIA’s hardware and software with OpenAI’s model development.

A Multi-Billion Dollar Revenue Opportunity

For NVIDIA the partnership could generate several hundreds of billions in compute and networking sales, providing visibility into 2026–2027 and beyond while easing investor concerns about slowing GPU demand or market-share erosion. The deal has enormous financial potential as each gigawatt of deployment could generate roughly $40 billion in revenue, implying a revenue pipeline around $400 billion for NVIDIA from OpenAI alone. 2

Strengthening NVIDIA’s Market Leadership

NVIDIA sits at the heart of the AI revolution, dominating the supply of advanced chips that are used for training cutting-edge AI models. So far, that advantage has positioned the company as the as the backbone of AI growth.

The partnership ensures NVIDIA’s GPUs, networking equipment, and software remain integral to the most advanced AI workloads of the decade, reinforcing NVIDIA’s strategic moat in AI infrastructure.

Market Outlook and Stock Performance

NVIDIA’s stock has already climbed more than 32% in 2025, outperforming both the semiconductor sector and the broader market. Monday’s rally, which added tens of billions in market value, lifted shares to a fresh record high. Still, the move remains contained within the rectangle pattern highlighted in blue on the chart. A decisive break above resistance at $184.55 would confirm the pattern, signalling the potential for the rally to extend toward $205.00.

While our long-term outlook on the stock remains constructive and we see a potential for an eventual breakout to the upside, the sharp gains since April suggest the price may pause or consolidate in the short term before resuming its upward trajectory.
