Rapid ORB Pro – Breakout & Fakeout Detector (Multi Sessions)

1 113
"Multi-session ORB tool with breakout confirmation, fakeout detection, and volume filter for true momentum trades. DLS confusion proof"

Description

The Rapid ORB Pro indicator is designed to identify opening range breakouts (ORB) across multiple sessions and confirm whether the move is valid or a likely fakeout. This tool works on any asset and timeframe where range trading is relevant. Also coded in a way to tackle daylight saving issue around the world.

Core Concepts

1. Opening Range Breakout (ORB):
The indicator marks the defined opening range for each session and tracks when price breaks above or below this range.

2. Confirmation Rules:
A breakout is only confirmed when:

  • The breakout candle shows a strong body (momentum candle), not just a wick.
  • The candle closes beyond the prior candle’s high or low, ensuring follow-through.
  • The structure aligns with market flow (Higher High / Higher Low in bullish context, Lower High / Lower Low in bearish context).

These conditions help filter weak breakouts and highlight true momentum moves.

3. Fakeout Detection (FO):
If price breaks out but the very next candle closes back inside the opening range, an FO marker is plotted. This helps traders exit limit orders quickly and avoid false signals.

4. 7-Bar Check:
If no valid breakout occurs within 7 candles after the range, the indicator prints a “7” on the chart. This signals a likely choppy session where breakout trades have lower probability.

5. Volume State Table:
A table on the chart compares the breaker candle’s volume with the highest volume candle inside the opening range. This provides a quick assessment of whether the breakout was backed by strong participation (High Volume) or weaker flow (Low Volume).

Use Cases

  • Works on forex, indices, commodities, and crypto.
  • Useful for scalpers looking to catch the first breakout of the day.
  • Helps swing traders filter false moves in volatile sessions.
  • Can be applied to any range trading strategy, not limited to session opens
.

Trading Tip

  • Trend is your friend, with trend behind the signal probability goes high.
  • Check the previous session or prior day stab (PD stab).
  • Watch for SMT divergence forming across correlated pairs.
  • If SMT lines up with a signal, the breaker confirmation is stronger.
  • Both SMT alignment and trend behind valid breakout candle increase the probability of a sustained move.
  • Always start with lower time frame and go up the time frame ladder. Depending on the market you can catch move earlier within lower time frame.

Note: Each input option in this indicator includes a tooltip with detailed explanations. We recommend experimenting with the settings and backtesting to discover what aligns best with your trading style and comfort zone. By default, the confirmation filters are set to what we have found to be the most effective combinations.

Rapid ORB Pro – Breakout & Fakeout Detector (Multi-Sessions) V2.0
Version Update Summary

This update focuses on precision, user control, and enhanced range behavior analysis. Based on extensive live-chart and backtesting results, several important upgrades have been implemented to improve signal clarity and adaptability across market conditions.

1. New User Toggles
Two new display controls have been added under the Alerts section to help traders manage visual clutter and focus on the signals that suit their trading style.

a. “Show Fakeout (FO) Signal”
  • When enabled, the indicator marks “FO” on the chart wherever a fakeout occurs.
  • A fakeout (FO) happens when price initially breaks out of the Opening Range but then immediately closes back inside or beyond the opposite edge on the following candle.
  • This behavior often indicates liquidity traps, false breakouts, or stop-hunts, which can offer valuable reversal opportunities.
  • Traders can now choose to display or hide FO markers according to their strategy.

b. “Show 7 Candle Signal”

  • When enabled, the indicator prints a “7” label at the top of the chart when price stays inside the Opening Range for seven consecutive candles without breaking out.
  • If any candle closes outside the range before the seventh, the tag will not appear.
  • Backtesting shows that when the market remains confined within the range for seven bars, two possibilities frequently follow:

1. A choppy or indecisive phase, or
2. A strong directional move once breakout finally occurs.
  • This feature helps traders identify “energy compression” setups where volatility is likely to expand sharply.

2. Enhanced Logic for Cleaner Signal Behavior
  • The FO signal logic has been refined so that it only triggers once per session, immediately after a valid breakout candle, ensuring the fakeout is recognized correctly and avoids duplicate triggers.
  • The “7” tag logic now checks that no candle has closed outside the range during the counting sequence, making it much more reliable in live trading.
  • Both signals are designed to reset cleanly at the start of each new session window.

3. Visual Consistency
  • Each session’s signal color continues to follow its defined range color (NY, LO, SYD).
  • All markers, lines, and range boxes remain synchronized with their respective session windows.
  • No visual style or layout has been altered to preserve backward compatibility for existing users.

5. Key Takeaway
The addition of the 7-Candle Signal and the refined Fakeout (FO) detection make this version of Rapid ORB Pro even more adaptive to real-time market structure.
In backtesting and forward observation, the “7” setup has proven highly useful for identifying moments when the market is storing potential energy within the range — often preceding the most explosive breakouts of the session.
Together, these improvements strengthen the tool’s reliability across different timeframes and trading styles.

Rapid ORB Pro – New Update Overview

This update adds several optional precision tools to the core ORB logic:
  • Previous-candle highlighting
  • In-range FVG detector (with strict confirmation)
  • Dual HTF trend filters + chart trend filter
  • Entry / SL / BE / TP suggestion lines
  • CME reset vertical marker

1. Previous Candle Highlighting

A new toggle highlights the two candles immediately before a breakout signal. This helps you visually frame the breakout and see the "base" structure (like compression or rejection) it launched from.

2. In-Range FVG Detector

This engine detects 3-candle Fair Value Gaps (FVGs) that start inside the ORB range and finish outside it.
  • It includes an optional strict filter requiring the 3rd candle (C3) to close beyond the 2nd candle's (C2) range for stronger confirmation.
  • Draws an FVG box that extends into the future to monitor price reaction.
  • Includes separate alerts for Bullish and Bearish FVGs.

3. Advanced Trend Filters

The trend logic is now a 3-part system:
  • Dual HTF Filters: Use two independent Higher Timeframes (HTF 1 & HTF 2), each with its own method (EMA Cross, Price Position).
  • Combined 'OR' Logic: If both HTF filters are active, a signal is allowed if either[/Vb] HTF 1 OR HTF 2 agrees with the trade direction. * Chart Trend Filter: An additional, separate filter for the local chart timeframe.

Breakouts must pass both the combined HTF gate and the chart-TF gate (unless disabled).

4. Trade Suggestion Lines

The script now draws a full, optional trade framework (Entry, SL, BE, TP) for each signal.
  • Entry: Choose from 'Body Mid' or 'Wick from Close' modes.
  • Stop-Loss (SL): Set based on 'Prev Candle' or 'Prev Swing', with a custom tick offset.
  • RR Lines: Automatically draws 'BE (1R)' (Break-Even) and 'TP (2R)' (Take-Profit) lines based on your SL risk.

All lines are session-aware and expire after a set number of bars to keep the chart clean.

Summary

This update adds a session-aware FVG detector, dual HTF filters with "OR" logic, pre-breakout candle highlighting, and a full set of trade management lines. All new features are fully optional.

Version Update

Currently code:
A long signal passes if:
4H bullish OR 1H bullish,
AND chart trend (isBullishTrend) is true.

Updated the combined HTF gates to AND instead of OR when both filters are active.
With this update:

If both HTF1 and HTF2 are enabled:
  • Long only if 4H bullish AND 1H bullish.
  • Short only if 4H bearish AND 1H bearish.
  • If only one HTF is enabled, that one alone controls it (same as before).
  • If both disabled, HTF gate is open (always true).

Example You use:
  • HTF1 = D (EMA Cross)
  • HTF2 = 1H (EMA Cross)
  • Chart = 5m (Price Position)

If HTF Combine Mode = "Either HTF OK":

Signal allowed when:
  • ✔ D Bullish OR 1H Bullish
  • ✔ 5m price-position bullish

If HTF Combine Mode = "Both HTFs Must Agree":

Signal allowed when:
  • ✔ D Bullish
  • ✔ 1H Bullish
  • ✔ 5m price-position bullish

→ TRUE multi-timeframe alignment

This finally gives you complete control.
Note: Default setting of the update will behave like the previous version.

Bug Fix: “Requested historical offset beyond buffer” (Swing-based SL)

Issue
Some users reported a runtime error on certain symbols and timeframes (for example GC, 6E):

"The requested historical offset (XXX) is beyond the historical buffer's limit (YYY)."

This occurred inside the swing-based Stop Loss logic (“Prev Swing” mode). The old swing finder scanned back using the user input value (slSwingLook) but the internal 5-bar swing pattern referenced bars like high[i+2], low[i+2].

On symbols with a smaller history buffer, these extended offsets could exceed the chart’s available data — triggering the error.

Even if the user set slSwingLook = 50, depending on chart history and required pattern references, the internal offset could still cross the buffer boundary.

Fix
The swing finder has been rewritten to be fully history-safe:

• It now calculates the maximum safe loop length using the actual available history on every bar.
• It only checks bars where all references (i+1, i+2, i-1, i-2) are guaranteed valid.
• If the symbol does not have enough history for a complete 5-bar swing, it safely returns na instead of throwing an error.
• If no valid swing exists inside safe history, the SL logic simply skips rather than failing.

Effects
• No more “requested historical offset beyond buffer” on any symbol (GC, 6E, etc.).
• “Prev Swing” SL functionality remains the same in normal usage.
• The code now auto-clamps the effective lookback to the safe limits of the current chart.
• Zero impact on signals or SL calculations under normal history depth — this is purely a reliability upgrade.

Summary
A critical stability fix ensuring swing-based SL no longer fails on symbols with limited historical depth. This improves reliability across futures, FX, crypto, and spot markets while keeping all functionality unchanged.
