Direct link handling in TradingView Desktop: opening charts and ideas seamlessly

With the 2.5.0 update to the TradingView Desktop app for Windows, users can now experience a more integrated flow. When you click on a TradingView link from a messenger, email, or any other external source, it no longer redirects to your default browser. Instead, it opens straightaway in the Desktop app, streamlining your access to charts and ideas.

However, the feature can be easily toggled off if you prefer links to open in your browser, the feature can be easily toggled off. Follow these steps:

  1. Click on the Windows Start menu.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Navigate to Apps.
  4. Look for the Apps for websites section.
  5. Find the TradingView app in the list.
  6. Here, you'll see three toggles associated with TradingView. To stop links from opening in the Desktop app, turn all three toggles off:

Please note that the direct link handling may conflict with the Developer Mode on Windows. To avoid this, you can either turn off the feature as described above, or turn off developer mode in your system:

  1. Click on the Windows Start menu.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Navigate to Update & Security.
  4. Find the section For developers.
  5. Here, switch off the toggle Developer Mode.
